VW Bora (golf with a boot)

Post by peteabbott »

Bit of help is needed please. My dear old Bora is not very well. When I turn on the ignition the cooling fan comes on for about 5 secs then off, then on then off and so on, Start the engine and the same thing happens. I am OK on the nuts and bolts but struggle on the electrickery bit. (I might just humbly add that I am not on filmstars money so I am looking for advice on a DIY fix )
Thanks in advance.

I've got a MK4 TDi (with 291,000 miles I may add) but it's never done this before.

I'd suggest trying the Fan controller, as far as I know all models are the same, the controller sits at the passenger side of the car just behind the bumper near the horns, will be easier to see under the car. Look for a box about 4" long, 2" deep with several thick wires and a handful of thin ones.

One thing I can suggest though, is your Air-con on? When my air con is running my fans come on quite regularly, perhaps on for 10 seconds and off for 20.

Dave.
