Not sure what to ask for!!

Post by marlton67 »

Image
Have to track down some parts after an accident but not sure how to phrase what I want.
Any help would be a real bonus.
So in laymen terms:
need the plate in the photo and all parts up to the Wheel (which I have).
Is there one description I can use or do I need to list all parts.
need to search EBay
Thank to all, Hope posted in right place.

When you say 'plate', do you mean body panels, or are you referring to the brake backing plate?

Ouch!

VW Heritage have some nice exploded diagrams for the rear suspension and the rear brakes. They should give you an idea what you need. For the brakes you'll need the backing plate, shoes, cylinder, fitting kit (springs etc), adjuster, drum - several of these can be bought as service kits. You might need a new handbrake cable too.

You'll also need a new hub, as that was presumably still attached to the wheel when it went rolling off, as well as new bearings, new hub nut and split pin. I'm a bit out of my depth on this, but I guess you'll need to check the condition of the splined shaft in case that's been damaged.

You might be able to get the whole lot as an assembly from a breaker - is this an insurance job or are you 'self insuring' this?
