1.6D annoying clicking/ticking noise

Hi Guys,

This is my fIrst post as up until now my ownership has been relatively trouble free.
So,my bus has been off the road for a couple of months while I welded new wheel arches and gave her some desrved TLC. Took her out on Sunday after being up on ramps in the garden for a while. Drove her round the village and there is a new noise, clicking/ticking from the engine bay is the best description.

Any ideas or suggestions on what I should be looking for?

Bomb that will arm if you get to over 60mph like in speed. Don't worry, it's never going to activate. Very hard to say from that description. Does it tick if you rev from idle as opposed to driving?

If you haven't driven it for a while it will most likely be the tappets. The oil drains off them over time and they are noisy for a while after starting - give it a good run (15 miles or more) and the noise should abate as oil is splashed back onto them.

Don't normally hear of that happening on a diesel.

Are you sure it's not coming from a rear wheel arch? I get this clicking noise on occasions, absolutely no idea what is though!!

Stone stuck in the tyre tread? That makes a right annoying click click click as you drive along.
