Did they actually change the inners?
Its a driveshaft off job and reallt somebody should have said "replace them all" for the hassle and cost its not worth trying to do just a pair, if 2 are worn all 4 would be..
The heads need to be cleaned out to get in them properly and its also possible they are not hex/allen key type but the "torx/star drive" type an allen key will bugger those..
the outers are not that difficult to do.. if you have an extension bar and the correct drive tool...

If the heads are rounded out inside, use a good pair of biting mole-grips to grip the outside of the bolts and crack `em off that way. New joint kits will come with new bolts and everything you`ll need. It`s not a big job to get the shafts off, and the CV joints are only held on with a circlip on the outer end of the shaft.
Note: I am refereing to the bolts holding the shaft to the gearbox end, see the post after for what to do if the outer end bolts are chewed

When some one says it needs a specialist i ask what does this mean.There is an other way to get accesss to the outer cv joint /bolts.Remove rear brake assemble /back plate and undo the four bolts that hold the drive shaft hub.You then undo the inner cv joint this then allows you to remove the shaft through the rear arm.This may appear to be a lot of work but you can get to the bolts to find ways to remove them ie cut grind the heads off

Might be easier and less time consuming to get a geed set of rear arms that have good bearings and swap them over instead removing the rear bearing hub can go 2 ways.. very well or a complete pig....
The CV joints do have circlip, but they need brute force to remove from the drive shafts.. (ie a big hammer to drift the shaft out of the joint) if they are a sloppy fit on the splines, either the joints are no good or the shafts are worn out.. this is why I asked if they had actually been changed.. its not something you can do easily with it on the vehicle...
The heads of the bolts need cleaning out with a small screwdriver, to see if they are completely shot or if its just the outer couple of mm.. it is possible that a good quality driver can be tapperd in with a hammer and still undo it if there is any good parts left..

the bestway to go is Mr campers way, just be careful with the brake pipes give them a good soak with
