1.9 TD engine

Ive looking to get a 1.9TD golf engine to put in my crewcab, It there a year of engine I should be looking for? I presume the more modern the engine the more wiring? The one ive spotted is a 1996 good / bad? Will I need the wiring loom for that year? My knackered engine is a 1.6TD, what exactly have I got to do when the 1.9 goes in/ mods?
