Hi all,
Stupidly I forgot that my mains didn't work on my Ziggy unit and I'm now 4 days into a road trip to Norway! Not expecting a quick fix, but you never know! Basically, the 12 volt works fine, but when I plug in the mains I seem to get nothing. The plug sockets don't work and the orange ligted switch on the Zig unit doesn't light. I'm also pretty sure the leisure battery isn't charging. I can't see any obvious loose connections and all the fuses I can find are good. No switches have been tripped. Any ideas?
I also had a the batteries wired up for a split charge, but I don't think that is charging the leisure either, as it seems to be very low. I'm running the car stereo and an amp from the leisure and I think the amp has drained it, so much so that the sterao unit now keeps powering itself off, I think maybe because there is not enough juice. I'm going to switch to the main battery to make sure that is the problem.
As an interim, I am going to try and pick up a solar battery charger and put it on the leisure whilst I'm driving. Luckily daylight hourse are very long. Any know if there would be an issue with having the charger attached and using the stereo at the same time? Or should it not be used whilst charging.
Any advice would be much appreciated, but please make it idiot proof for me! Photos of Zig attached.
Cheers all,
Peter
PS, won't let me upload for some reason, saying Board attachment quota has been reached, but haven't attached any!

Re: Zig CF6 Mains Problem
Hi Peter, are you sure your mains hook cable is OK? You could perhaps try to borrow another campers hook up cable and try it on your van.
I am not sure if the country you are in at the moment has a "reversed polarity" at the hook ups that I have read about on here but I am sure some one will be along shortly that has been to Norway before and can advise you. My electric hook up system has two trip switches for the two 240v ring circuits and also a master isolator switch that turns the circuit breaker on and off. It also has a red LED light that is illuminated when I connect to the on site hook up This is all located in my cupboard under the sink/cooker.
There are no images attached to your post so could you advise us which ZIG unit you have too.
E D I T Oooops I must remember to read the title of the thread!!! Zig CF6

Re: Zig CF6 Mains Problem
Hi,
Thanks for the response. I did try to upload photos, but it kept telling me my limit had been reached when I hadn't attached anything. That said, this story has a happy ending! I managed to find a solar battery charging in Malmo. If anybody ever needs anything car related in Sweden, head to Biltema, it's like Halfords on steroids! You can't miss em, coz they have signs that go 5 storeys high. Rigged it up and spent next few hours figuring out how to fix up on the roof at the next stop. got to the next stop and leckie was included in the price. I read on another thread here that the main/car battery charging switch is totally separate to the Mains switch, so since it was included, I hooked it up. May as well throw the Mains switch and wha'd'ya know, it's on! Either I've got a loose connection somewhere that's got jiggered back on, or the last place had a duff leckie point! Icing on the cake, is I've got music again now!
Initial teething problems of this trip seem to be sorted, just need to await the next.
Cheers,
Peter

Glad you're sorted Pete
The reason is that the attach thing copies pictures to the 80-90 server, thereby taking up server space (costs 80-90 money) whereas hosting them and using the PhotoBucket links doesn't

Really folks should not be using the "attach" thing to post pictures, one should upload them to PhotoBucket and use the links they provide.peteinnit wrote:PS, won't let me upload for some reason, saying Board attachment quota has been reached, but haven't attached any!
