Fridge Repair/Replacement.

Post by deke »

Does anyone know of a fridge mechanic please? Preferably in SW London /Surrey, although I would be prepared to travel a bit.. I have an Electrolux RM185R in my 1990 Reimo conversion. It works well but recently ceased to ignite on gas. A nuisance when operating without hook up. New replacements are available from Just Kampers but they are smaller and the flue has apparently changed sides. If anyone he's any constructive thoughts I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance. Del.

Hi Del. did you manage to sort your fridge ignition out in the end?

Just seen this post and I recently fixed my fridge ignition issue, however I have the older RM 212 model so this info might not be that useful.

Initially I thought that it was going to be a failed Piezo Ignition unit, or gas no longer working, so would need to get someone out to look at it. But first of all I took a look at the ignition rocker switch (you may not have it on your model)
Anyhow I noticed the connections in the rocker switch were corroded a little so once I have scraped off the corrosion, hey preto the switch worked, ignition spark then worked and lit the gas pilot light at the bottom of the fridge. So now have the fridge working off of gas again.

As I said I'm not sure if any of this will apply to your model and your problem, but as I'm local (in Twickenham) I thought I'd share.
