Rotten Inner Sill
So, along with a lot of other areas my bus has a rotten inner sill on drivers side. I've not heard good things about having to replace these panels and know vans have been scrapped over this issue as B pillars and C pillars always end up being rotten too, along with inner arches etc. Going to have to order a panel along with the outer section which as an expense in itself, let alone the welding that's required. Anyone else had this done? What did it cost? Should I give up now?

Re: Rotten Inner Sill
Are you sure it needs a complete inner sill?
Quite often just the areas around jacking points and/or outer lip only, which can be replaced by
somebody competent without ripping it all out

Re: Rotten Inner Sill
Too dark in the unit to take a pic that's useful of underneath and it cant move as the clutch slave has gone, so no clutch and engines had it anyway. Only ones I have are these but inner lip is worse than outer lip you can see. Also can see holes in bottom of B post. Theres also a big hole in the sill on the innermost part. I've bought a genuine inner sill anyway. Also have plenty more rust so have put pics of that aswell for peoples amusement. By far the rustiest vehicle I've ever had:

Cant really see it but top lip of boot/ seal channel is totally rotten most of the way across:

Massive dent. Whole corner has been replaced (badly) before and doesn't line up. Whole lot will have to come off. Its also rotten in the bottom of both corners/ rear of inner arches either side of engine bay) where water drips down from vents.

Needs the usual cab steps and bottom of tailgate. Small hole in drivers cab floor, windscreen surround looks suspect too and lower front panel isn't great but seen alot worse
Seems to be very rusty down drivers side but by contrast the passenger side just isn't. Some nice bits

Talking of nice bits both sliding doors are absolutely solid as are the cab doors, though one is bent... On the inside?!
So yeah, Rusty Bus is Rusty.

Re: Rotten Inner Sill
Already been in touch with him a while back through brick yard forum about the boot lip area. I was supposed to find a time where he could take a look at it but I forgot as have been busy with shows and collecting parts
I want to get it running and driving first so it can actually make it to a workshop but just cant find enough time!
