Is it ok to swap flow and return outlets on petrol tank.
I cant think of any reason why not and it would suit my new external pump setup to be fed from what would have been the return inlet, as the pumps going to be on the near side next to my external gas tank.
Cheers

Re: Fuel tank outlets
the outlet pipe doesn't come from the edge of the tank it actually comes from the bottom of the depression in the middle of the tank and the return feeds back into an antifoam device iirc. The fuel injected and carb tanks are different with different pipe outlets and internal filtering set up so if swapping to FI from a carb set up really you should change the tank. Some people who haven't changed the tank have suffered from repeated fuel pump failures, maybe due to different feed pipe size or lack of pre-pump filtration, on the FI systems the fuel filter comes after the pump, the pump is protected by filter in tank

Re: Fuel tank outlets
Thanks Aidan.
I am going to be using a mk2 fuel pump setup with filter and it does look as though it pumps before the filter. Could I put a transparent filter in line to protect the pump?
Also my existing tank is only a couple of years old. I have had a look inside and at the mo it looks super clean inside.
From what you have said I will run from the original outlet for now. Long term it would seem as tho a new Fuel injected tank is the way to go.
As yet I have not tested the fuel pump I have acquired.
