OK.
A bit more info please.
Does it crank?
Does the engine turn over at normal speed?
Does the engine splutter?
I'd be thinking either a temp sender fault or air leak after air flow meter.
Pull a plug after a failed start and see if it is wet with fuel.

DJ should need no peddle to start, so you need to check the temp senders when it's in fault condition and the afm outputs too......

Yes, critical temp sender for start idel is that one behind the the thermostat, and its wiring (fractured - redo the whole thing into isu unit or wherever the hell it goes, long time no DJ) MIne was dodgy about 4" out of temp sender.

Give him a chance - this IS Matt..... replace gas struts on tailgate? yes. Replace plug leads (that are so old they've locked into the curves around the engine bay.... whoah there, let's not rush into this!!
You HAVE done that last one, haven't you?!

Be careful stripping back the temp sensor wiring... I never DID find th eother end. Replaced about a foot and a half, 1/4" at a time, as the old one just kept falling apart!
It DOES sound like the temp sender is going open circuit, and causing the injection to go full rich.
