Speedo and odometer not working

Post by pleasestartnow »

Hi all, got really good advice here before so hoping I can get more help in another hour of need. Everything was working away grand and then noticed 2 days ago speed had stopped moving and odometer wasn't counting up my miles. I have checked the cable for speedo hasn't fallen out at both ends and seems grand. Tried looking on the forums but it all seems to be an issue with one or the other. The two of them stopped working together so I am a bit lost now. Any help appreciated. Cheers

Thanks for the response. Will have to get back under the van and look this afternoon. Is it a big thing to change or is it just pull off the old one and pop on the new one?

You don't need to get under the van to examine or replace that. It is in the centre of the left hand front wheel ;) (I thought you sead you had checked both ends :? ) It is quite a common fail, the square hole that accepts the square end of the speedo cable rounds out over time. It simply pushes / clips in. Most folk use either a screwdriver or the claw on a claw hammer to remove it.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

Ya checked both ends but didn't know it came out the front Of the wheel.just imagined it worked by some sort of magic lol. Checked that part on the wheel and it's loose just kind of swings about and I can easily twist it and move it so that must be it. Will order a new one tonight and hopefully that will be me away!!
