Viking Xplorer literature (and/or photos)

Post by CJH »

I'm thinking about reinstating the original vinyl lettering on the sides of my 1983 Viking Explorer. Does anyone have any of the original sales literature (brochures, press photos etc) scanned in so I can see what the graphics would have looked like?

Ta

E D I T: I should say, I've googled up various images, but there is variation among them, and I'm not sure whether that's because the graphics changed from year to year or because people have subsequently modified them. So evidence of the original graphics for an '83 version is what I'm after.

Hi.

this could be of use....

I also have a folder of xplorers through the years (the decals do change year to year) will send them over to you if you drop me an email address via pm. :ok

They aren't mine......I got them passed onto me so I could throw them in your direction.

Many thanks Dave. In fact Daveyp2004 off here sent me that link this morning, as well as (I'm guessing) the same folder of Viking images from various years.

It's clear that there were various different decal designs, but it also seems possible that some of them might have been applied during owner refurbs. So in fact I'm still looking for photos, however grainy, of an '83 Viking with known original decals. If these match up to one of the designs in DaveyP's collection then I can use his images to recreate the artwork.

Anyone?

I hope Daveyp2004 doesn't mind - I've cropped a few of his images down to just the decal parts (DaveyP - if you'd rather I didn't post these just shout up and I'll remove them).

So if you haven't got a photo, but you can remember owning an '83 van and it had graphics like one of the ones below, then that's also useful to know.

Not sure of the year of this one - I think it's Daz's - it's Aircooled, so earlier than mine, but it's my favourite of all of them.

Ah ha! It is one and the same!

I'd have to say of them all, the 1980 one is my fave, the cool bit that sweeps up at the back to the vents is the best bit.

I do like the red one though, it's nice and clean looking.
