coolant change query
On way back from bus types coolant pipe popped off, twice! (one that attaches to pipe coming through bulkhead) nothing serious just a loose jubilee clip. Anyway had to fill up with tap water to get me home so now I want to flush this out and fill with correct coolant, G12.
I have read the wiki but not too sure of the process. Is this right
1) drain the water out from the radiator bleed with header tank open. Do I need to pull any other pipes off to empty?
2) top up with as much coolant as possible. Do I fill the header tank or expansion tank behind flap?
3) start engine and rev to 2k and keep topping up as needed. Do I need to have the radiator bleed open until new coolant draws through?
4) take for short drive to open thermostat
5) re-bleed with engine at 2k until no air coming out
6) top up.

Yeah have had a look at that and referred to TC's post. Mockis explanation assumed it is an empty system whereas mine is full of tap water, although the initial part of Mockis process to draw coolant through will be the same. Really wanted a bit of clarification on how to empty the system, although I could undo radiator bleed screw and the pipe which came off initially. Thanks MidLifeCrisis

Re: coolant change query
No mention of g12 in haynes for the 1.9 diseaseals just to use the latest as recommended by the auntifreeze manufacturers. Don't forget that you only have a normal engine without the requirements of the funny old engines that a lot of people have.

Re: coolant change query
Think I've got filling the system sussed but can someone tell me which pipes I need to remove to drain the system. Do I just need to remove the one at the bottom of the rad? 1.9td aaz

Re: coolant change query
It seems to be impossible to drain these motors totally, you never get out what you put in. I just drain from a couple of low hoses front and back, flush through with the garden hose, then put in your antifreeze, then top up with water.

Once again cheers OBG . Think I will find another low hose at the front then as the one on the rad looks a bugger to get off.

Re: coolant change query
They do tend to stick on the stub - it worries me that I might wrench the plastic apart with too much force.
