Engine Out Question

Post by mike the van »

Numpty question have dropped engine out (2.0l A/C) for it being fettled by Laurie Pettit, quetion is how do you support gearbox. I can't be doing with it being on axle stands for a month or so ?
Can I support it with webbing or similar to a bar across the engine lid and then move the van.

That's exactly what I did when I dropped the engine from my Squareback.

Just loop a strong rope around it, or a ratchet strap or similar. If it's in more or less the same position as it was when the engine was attached, you'll be able to push the car around without any problems.

A ratchet strap and length of wood accross the hatch is cheaper though!!!

Don't forget to put it round the box though not the input shaft.
