Jam
Jamming in gear is not a terminal issue - but it may be the first sign of needing a partial rebuild. Mine started jamming in 4th - it's a common problem with these boxes as the "hubs" can split and cause the jam.
A rebuild costs around £400 upwards or you could risk a used one for £50 to £100.

I'm an odd bod then. Mine terminated by jamming OUT of gear. Middle of a road junction, I was, waiting to turn right.
Paid about £200 for a supposedly low-mileage??? used box - that's a couple of years ago now & it's working fine.

It all depends on when the synchro ring/hub decides to fall apart, normally its in 3rd or 4th just when you have changed...
Bristol.... Bristol Transmissions have done a few club members boxes..
But ther might be a resource within the club soon

Oh and its a bit late to check the gearbox oil level after its jammed.....!!! really ought to be part of a routine check and service... if your box looks wet and leaky!!!!
OH and dont try and force it out.. thats when you will bend and break something...

Slight hi-jack here but on topic
My DG has a nice DK box fitted and working fine ( Oh god, fancy being daft enough to write that !! )
I would like to drain it and put some fresh oil in as I have no idea how old the stuff in there now is.
I have looked and looked, but I cannot find the filler / level plug
Anyone ?

Fill 'er up
If it's a DK then the filler/level plug is hiding behind/next to the shift bracket. Well, it is on mine anyway...

Ah that sounds hopeful - just need a dry day now to crawl underneath and have a ganders.
