Re: Trimming over insulation
I believe you nee to ply over the insulation. The insulation wont take loading that well afaik.

Re: Trimming over insulation

Re: Trimming over insulation
The insulation goes above the fiberglass. You don't need ply.

Re: Trimming over insulation
Sorry, did read the OP properly! I was talking about the floor!
I suspect you can fix the carpet to the fibreglass roof but I'm still not sure the carpet will bond to the insulation properly?

Re: Trimming over insulation
They are glued to fiberglass and insulation between fiberglass and roof.

Nicq,
No sure I'm following mate:
The roof is fibreglass! It's a high top!!
Kev,
Sounds like a good idea, is this tried and tested in the community??

Re: Trimming over insulation
All Autosleeper high top glass fibre roofs are insulated this way... the foil type wasn't invented when they were fitted out.Tobias13 wrote:

There are lots of ways really.
Use the sikaflex to glue thin wooden battens to the roof, then glue the foil type insulation between the battens.
you can then board over the foil using the battens to fix the 3mm ply boarding to.
I think you get the idea

And don't forget to use a vapour barrier otherwise you'll get damp bits.
From the outside in: fibre glass, insulation, vapour barrier, ply lining, finish.

Don't argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Re: Trimming over insulation
Does the double foil insulation act as vapour also??
Was told it did!!

Re: Trimming over insulation
I would have thought so, yes. Surely the vapour barrier is only needed if you are using the fibre glass type insulation.
