2ltr air cooled started stalling
We've had our van for a few weeks now. Covered over 600 miles trouble free. All of a sudden she has started stalling when idling. She starts up again with no problems. Very strange. I'm new to air cooled so any help would be aprecuated. Cheers.

Re: 2ltr air cooled started stalling
Very likely to be a poorly fitting hose connected to the carbs or wear in one or more throttle flaps (sometimes spraying WD40 on the vicinity of them will cause idle speed to pick up briefly) or a leaky inlet or carb gasket. Air leaks anywhere on the intake side (and carbs form part of the intake right down to mainifolds bolted to heads) weaken the mixture and the engine dies. It should help you know where to look at least.
So, check every hose (rubber and cloth-covered rubber hoses) for a good snug fit and replace if the condition is suspect. Check also that wire is connected to idle cut-off jet and that its not loose.
Don't mess with mixture/idling screws to compensate - you could make matters worse.
