Westfalia poptop has struts & no H bar - any advice?

HI

I bought a CAT D westy as a syncro donor vehicle. Its arrived today and the poptop has no H bar, instead it has gas struts. Its a genuine westy but I have never seen one without the H bar. The poptop does not have any holes where a H bar may have been in the past, all looks genuine and correct even the pull cord. Any thoughts, anyone come across this before?
