Westfalia gas supply change?
I've got a Westfalia kit-chen unit that I'm slowly bringing back into use. I wanted to put a camping gas 907 cylinder in it, and wondered whether this might cause any problems with the gas pressure. I know these small cylinders are low pressure, but is this likely to cause problems with the burners? Will they still burn/cook as effectively as before?

Re: Westfalia gas supply change?
Westy's normally have a regulator on the tank that outputs the gas at a pressure of 50 mBar, so the jets on your hob and fridge will be set up for that pressure. The problem you'll face is that the default regulator output pressure in the UK is 38 mBar and so things will run low if you use a UK regulator with the standard Westy setup. There are two main solutions - get 38 mBar nozzles for the hob / fridge - Gunzl might be able to help with this, or get a 50 mBar regulator for your gas cylinder - maybe try these people: http://www.gasproducts.co.uk.

I have the correct 50mb regulator. Is it possible to change the screw fitting (that goes into the cylinder)? It looks like it's a simple screw-in replacement.

You can get valve/adaptors to use a propane regulator with campingaz bottles.

Actually, I think that is what I already have here. Just waiting for a pm back from Bucketbabe to confirm that it is what I think it is. Mind you, I've compared it to the fitting on my camping stove, and althought the dimensions are very similair, the design of the valve seems slightly different. Oh well, at least I know I can get the right one if I need to.

Just to clarify this - if I use an adaptor, that allows me to fit a 50mb regulator to a campingaz 907 bottle, then that set-up will work with a Westfalia kit-chen hob?

I used to run a westy cooker unit with fridge and twin burner from a butane bottle with standard regulator with no issues.
