Hi,
I have replaced the rusty quarter light frame, seal and glass hinges to the drivers side door.
Apart from my initial thoughts on how to reinstate the top hinge to the quarter light with a plain stainless steel countersunk screw and nilock bolt........has any one got a better alternative. The original looks like a large dome headed rivit.
Regards
Graham

Hiya
The online company NLA VW (No longer available vw) sell replacement hinges for 24.95
http://nlavw.com/gb/search?controller=s ... ght+hinges" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Should be easy to fit. I believe they sell other parts bits for the quarter lights.
Cheers John

Re: Openable Quarter Light Replacement.
Cheers for your help.
I have these parts........but the small bracket used as a hinge for the top support for the glass needs to be secured to a steel plate which is fixed to the quarter light frame.
May not of explained this too well, the quarter light frame is quite delicate and I can't see myself utilising the original idea of a glorified domed headed rivet as the top pivot.

Re: Openable Quarter Light Replacement.
OK, so I understand now. I've just been to look at my frames currently being refurbished and can see what you mean. Mine are fastened together with two very small 'pop rivets' through the frame.

Hop this helps.

Re: Openable Quarter Light Replacement.
Hi hope you don't mind me asking but did you replace frames fully? I am doing that job myself and i am having a real headache getting the frames in to the door with the window in. There is just not enough room to moneuvre under the mirror bracket etc. How did you manage this? Any info would be appreciated as it is seriously doing my head in.

Re: Openable Quarter Light Replacement.
Hi there, welcome to the forum. To fit the opening quarter light frames you will need to detach the main window from its mounting/mechanism and lower it to the bottom of the door, you can totally remove it if you like. The opening quarter light frame, minus the glass, can then be inserted in through the lower apertures and raised into place. It's quite a tight squeeze with all the rubber as well but perseverance will win.

Re: Openable Quarter Light Replacement.
Thanks very much hopefully i'll get there in the end, i did take the door glass out and fitted the quarter light but then i couldn't get the window back in so had to take it all to bits again. I will definitely give this method a go.
Thanks again i'll upload some photos and stuff of my van when i've done this job mate.
