Fuel Pump??

Post by gracon73 »

Hi, having problems starting my van. The fuel pump is making a really loud knocking sound, so I presume it's not working properly (it's never been that loud before). Are they easy to replace?

What type of pump is it? The original mechanical pump shouldn't make a noise.
If it has been replaced with an electric pump then increased noise is usually due to it being out of petrol.

Not sure what type but think it's electric. Fuel gauge show a quarter of a tank but put some more in today and still no luck. I poured some directly into the carb and it started, so I'm assuming from that there's a blockage or the pump is failing. Given the noise it's making, I'm going for the later.

Now how easy are these things to change?
