what service items have i forgotten?

Hi guys.
I've been slowly performing a service on my bus since getting it a few weeks ago.
To date I've done, or have the bits to do....
- oil
- oil filter
- air filter
- plugs
- dizzy cap
- rotar arm
- coolant

This morning driving to work, I randomly remembered I hadn't looked into a fuel filter.

Is there anything else I've forgotten?

Check all brakes and replace the fluid? (I wonder when many folk last changed their brake fluid  )

Check all fuel hoses for condition.

HT leads, perhaps.

Brakes are on my to do list. I'm breaking my old Ford Galaxy & keep reading about back brakes. I've yet to make my mind up though.

Good call on fuel hoses, I'll check when looking for a filter.

HT leads I'm hoping I can make up. I've a few random sets of magnacore leads kicking about & hopefully I can make a set to fit.

Am I right in thinking fuel lines can look fine on the exterior when in fact they're less than perfect internally? I may be wrong. Don't forget a copper washer for the sump plug (bit late this time but hopefully, you'll be changing it again soon).

Ghost's point about brake fluid is very true, it's often overlooked. I did mine last summer with Itchy, the old fluid resembled coca cola, it really was that grim. I suspect it would be easy to boil if I'd lived in a hilly area.

Oil is already done thank you. There wasn't a washer on the plug, just ptfe tape. Lol.

Brake fluid will be done when the brakes are overhauled. Just need to make a decision on the rears.

If you don't have Captains chairs fitted then the armrests from your Galaxy can be fitted to existing seats without too much trouble.

Contrary to what you might have been told, the leads on these engines are copper wired and do not fail...what does occasionally break down are the metal shrouded plug caps. Trust me, they don't need replacing as a service item and if there is an issue the best upgrade is to cut off those metal caps and fit NGK screw on replacements at about £10 posted.

After 30 years of hot summers and salty winters there are so many things to fail. Just look around and see what is close to failing. Anything replaced is an investment. But actually the investment is knowledge. I now know how my starter motor is wired and how to by pass it which is so much better than a piece of copper.

Gearbox oil hasn't been mentioned yet.

If this were to come into a dealership the job card would read something like: Full service with report.
In other words, carry out the service and within that service plan, which is mostly checks, report on additional work required.
The areas checked include.

Lights
Tyres
Steering
Suspension/running gear.
Brakes
Transmission & drive line
Engine: fluids/filters/plugs/belts/coolant/hoses/fuel lines.
Interior checks to include switch functions: blowers/wipers/washers/seat movement/belts/lights/radio CD/lights/horn/HRW/vanity & comfort/heater controls & flaps.
Body: locks/door strikers/handles/hinges/check straps/foot lights/sliding door/tailgate & struts/central locking/lens & reflector condition.
On the road: noises/rattles/engine performance/gearbox & clutch operation/steering/suspension & brake correct operation etc.

The oil/filter/sump plug washer/spark plugs/air filter/petrol filter are the main service parts but as you can see, there are so many other checks, each of which can throw up faults and add to a 'to do' list. This is no bad thing as you can then prioratise the faults in order of importance.
