Doka/Sinka bulkhead removal?

Post by ELVIS »

Anyone got any pics/links to the bulkhead on a pick up being removed/replaced etc?

Would just make it a tad easier to see how it's stitched together , if it's in bits, if that makes sense :ok

to remove the old one from the Tishered sika just grind the edge where it is rolled over and seperate the layers, theres some spots you wont be able to get at and brazing on the corners at the roof edge and around the drop side latch holes corners

we cut about 2cm above the load deck and left the old skin attached to the load bed as there are 5 layers interwoven here and the cab rear skin layer is sandwiched, we then used this upturn to attach the replacement panel to with additional L sections both sides to tie it all in and sandwich

angle grinder for the welds holding the horizontal bar to the b pillar and take the bar remains with the skin, on mine the uprights fitted in the middle were barely more than tacked

getting the remnant sliver out of the gutter tidy is the most work as you will be fixing the replacement skin here

we removed another old skin and refitted that which meant drilling through all the spots and then unrolling the rolled edge and seperating then rolling over the recipient and puddle welding the spot holes we'd made both sides on the outer edges and the L plate sandwich at the bottom, we cut it longer than needed when recovering it from the donor and trimmed and lapped as necessary

I wouldn't bother reclaiming a skin again just buy new while they are still available it's cost effective, Dazzer was cheap but if paying full rate labour was more than the skin was worth and it's used, though I do like recycling as a concept, also it was a lhd donor into a rhd so very slight differences with the seat support and reinforcement

I do have some pics somewhere but my pics are not organised and they are not on this laptop afaics

the one we reclaimed we actually cut off a slightly larger section from the donor and then did the seperation on the bench (or the loadbed or floor actually) which made it easier to get it off relatively undamaged as we could get the drill and the grinder at both sides and taught us how it was constructed so when it came to removing the tisher dog doored one from the recipient vehicle we could do it with minimal damage to the shell

cheers chap!

Just been out and pulled off the rather tasteful faux wood lining inside the cab. think new skin is the order of the day the more i look at it.

Should be able to get one for less than £200 all being well, will find the pics on my ipad in a bit and post them up. not pretty  :ok

Through GSF. They order it and send it via internal transport to local branch who deliver to me. yay!

Got it cheapest through them on GSF trade account, heritage was more expensive (£237+ Delivery) and direct from classic would have worked out more. saying that euro is pants since i ordered mine but paying direst i *think* you get rammed for £20 bank transfer fee + shipping + you pay retail :ok
