rear arch lower panel advice

Post by markysparky71 »

Hi All after much eating and drinking over the holidays I have took a week off work next week to get on top of some of my 81 westy bodywork which is starting to look a little tired as she's still all original paint!
got the use of a barn so she's dry and started to have a poke around mostly the usual areas need some attention cab steps, behind front bumper, tail gate window, sliding door was by far the worst! cut the inner and outer lower panels off and fitted repair panels removed window cut out rust and welded piece in also ground rust scabs from around handles and sanded paint from dints.
The rear arch has been in contact with something and had filler crudely applied, decided to replace the lower panel with just kampers lower panel with what looks like the inside of the wheel arch area. I'm sure their will be a good how to guide on here but ive only found the whole panel repair can somebody put a link up the more photos the better as i'm still learning the art of mig welding.
I will post my learning journal. Cheers in advance :)

if not then it will be one of them as there is a specific way to do it so you get a neat tight seam
Any picks of what youve done /doing

Cheers for that! I'm hoping it will all become obvious when i get stuck into it! just worried about making it worse than already is.
Tackled my sliding door as that was the worst, had been crusty since i bought the van 7 years ago and just bodged it with fibre glass to keep the two panels together. Just finding the time with two small kids has been difficult but eventually making a start.
