Rear Bumper End Caps

Post by SamsBus2012 »

I am currently refurbing the rear metal bumper and want to install a couple of new end caps. The ones that were on did not have any side bolts fitted and as such had a bit of droop!. Quick question, do the side fitting bolts require drilling through the body panel? My van has had both the panles at this point replaced and there are no holes. Dont really want to if I can avoid it.

My (new) panels got drilled when I fitted new ones after my Tin-Top came back (eventually  ) from the bodyshop.

iirc I got them from Brickwerks as, the previous ones, from JK, broke off when I went into a car wash   JK strikes again ;)

Thanks guys, that's what i thought. I think I am going to drill and then "sleeve" the hole with a gromit so i can give the bodywork some corrosion protection and fix with a coach bolt and two nuts to create the space..

That's interesting as i note the BW end caps are essentially the same price as JK (actually a couple of pennies cheaper) and the fitting kits a whole £1 cheaper. Were they of a noticeably different quality?

The JK ones were bought some years ago and they broke in the car wash where the bolt holes were. I bodged them up and lived with them for a couple of years, then, early last year bought some new Brickwerks one. I cannot now remember the difference, but the BW ones are still looking fine.
