against my wishes,my brothers choice of paint job

Post by blacky »

I did a bottom half paint job on my brothers camper, I said it would be a good idea to do it in vw colour to retain some vestige of originality. Unfortunately he chose Savannah Beige, or as my mate calls it "hearing aid beige"

Like it, looks good, thinking of doing mine two tone, but it's red all over and want to keep the top red

I also prefer two tones on camper as they look more retro, but my preference is for the bottom colour to be the darkest. So how about doing the top half elfenbein as vw call it, ivory to you and me.

Just personal preference, but the colour should stop at the end of the front doors. Always looks odd when there is a paint line on the front end with no natural body mouldings for it to follow. Colour looks good though.

That's interesting....my Syncro is Savannah Beige, and it's definitely gold coloured. That looks like more like milky coffee.....

Ah, I think I see what's happened here. There's two different VW Savannah Beige colours. One is early and solid flat colour (the one you've got - L620), from the late 60s T2.
The T3 colour is LH1V and is listed as Savannah Beige Metallic.

Ajsimo, well done, you made me go look at the tin and its actually Prairie Beige . Thats L378 I think, and you're right it was an early t/1 and t/2 colour If I remember correctly he was stuck over the choice of Savannah (hearing aid beige ) and Prairie (pensioner beige )
P.S. apologies to mods for posting in wrong section, I blame the festive Leffe beer.
