2.0 CU Oil Cooler

Post by cliveT25 »

Hi from a newbie,

Applogoies as Ive searched all over the forum and I cant find a thread to deal with changing the oil cooler, unless I`m blind :-)

Just picked up my 81 Westy on Sunday and discovered a leak from cooler, not seals as its leaking from small corner above heat exchanger.

Ive done many of these on bugs but never a type4 engine.

Can this be done in situe or do I have to have engine out?

Any assistance would be gratfully recieved

Clive

You can do it in situe, but you'll need to pull the rear tins, fan, and fan shroud... worth checking/buying a fan hub oil seal too, as these are often hard/cracked, and weep too!!
