In line fuel pump mounting

Post by daddyjim »

Hi all,

I have just replaced my in line fuel pump and i have re mounted it to the underside of the floor in the back but it still makes a lot of noise which is from vibration of the pump because when it's not attached to anything it's silent. Could anyone please tell me the best place to mount it to stop the noise. I have used rubber between the mount and the floor as well but it doesn't help.
Many thanks
James

Are you using bobbin mounts for it? On Webastos I use a rubber lined P-clip and a bobbin mount, you can use 2, 1 on the P-clip and then another at the body end of a bracket.

I haven't used any bobbin mounts on it just got a 3mm strip of rubber between the bracket and the underside of the floor. Think I will get some and see how that goes. Thanks for your help mate.

My facet makes a bit of noise but don't mind it - reminds me its working. Agree though, they can be noisy without bobbin mounts

I can only really hear it when it's running out of petrol.

If you mounted to the floor then floor will be acting as a sounding board.

Do you think even with the bobbins it will act as a sound board? I would ideally like to put it where yours is in the pic but my pump is bigger and the mount won't fit there.
