JX camshaft sprocket: should it have a Woodruff key?
I've just replaced the head gasket and was reviewing the procedure for fitting the timing belt when I came across, for the first time, a reference to a Woodruff key for the camshaft sprocket! I thought the sprocket was held solely by the tapered seating and didn't look for a key when I removed the sprocket even when I saw a slot in the tapered seating. I've now got that sinking feeling that I've messed-up and my trip to France this weekend is not going happen as planned. Is it remotely possible that this Woodruff key is not essential? I know some sprockets are fitted without them. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't panic! no woodruff key is fitted,the cam wheel to camshaft has to be finely adjustable,the taper fit works ok!
