Hi all,
My gears seem to be crunching in 3rd and 4th gear only, could anyone shed some light on why please, not sure if I need a new clutch or not.
Many thanks
James

Re: Crunching 3rd and 4th gear
Various possibilities...
Could be clutch is not disengaging fully when you change gear - if early cable type then try adjusting, but if later hydraulic then there is no adjustment but could be leaking cylinder (front or rear) - could be leaking internal seals or external.
Or it could be gearshift bushes worn / alignment out.
Or it could be internal synchro's worn (gearbox rebuild needed)
If it is just 3rd/4th then less likely to be clutch issue as that would normally affect all gears, so start with inspection of shifter alignment / bushes.
You need to sort sooner rather than later as even if it is external to the gearbox then crunching will eventually damage internals.
