Will a petrol speedo cluster work in a diesel ?

Post by sternal »

As the question says really, only think of the glow plug light wont illuminate ? There is a bulb there but obviously there isn't a symbol on the petrol version speedo.

At present I have a left hand drive which is in KPH

New petrol cluster has a clock would this work ???

Is it a simple swop over remove my unit and unplug plug new one in ???

Thanks in advance

By cluster I mean this PICTURE FROM GOOGLE

No because plug is in different place and rev counter driven by alternator on a diesel. I do have a set of diesel clocks I'm looking to swap for petrol - or at least rev counter and complete membrane.

What I have is diesel
Kph dail fuel gauge and temp gauge

The petrol one I have has
Mph dail petrol/temp gauge and ticking clock.

Does this make a difference to plugs etc ???

Is it really just the speedo your want to read mph? If so, why not just swap the speedo's themselves over?

tis a good idea quite fancied the idea of the clock...if its not possible to swop then never mind.

On another not how hard is it to swop the actual speedo over ? (kph to mph) :ok

The petrol cluster will also lack the glow plug warning light.

Speedo is easily swopped, just the four screws in the corners.

Just occurred to me that I think there can be differences in how the cable attaches so look out for that.

It's not hard once you get the hang.

Round numbers :
20 = 30
50 = 30
65 = 40
80 = 50
100 = 60
115 = 70
