Hello, Anybody out there any information on putting a diesel engine into a caravelle gl auto 2.1 petrol.Roger :ok

i think, but dont treat it as gospel, if you go electronic tdi that you need a tdi-auto as a donor as the ecu controls the kickdown etc

The samba thread I linked above used an adapted mechanical pump. You are correct that you'd need to devise a way to control the automatic and the ECU via the pedal at the same time. It is not necessary to use a TDI that was an automatic originally in the conversion. But, in the North America market, the automatic TDI had a larger pump, but smaller injectors. So automatic pump with manual injectors would be the poor mans upgrade.
