OK I've finally decided to fit a second hand westy pop top to my van. Although probably the scariest part I'm not too concerned about cutting the opening. What is more of a worry is locating the right position for the rear hinges and the brackets for the front luggage rack. Does anybody have a drawing showing the position of the fixings or ideas of how I might get the correct locations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also the guy who I bought the roof from said that his front section of roof had rusted very badly under the luggage rack. I noticed that the drainage goes straight on to the existing roof but I cannot see how it is drained from there. Again is there any advice on how to prevent my roof from going rusty.
Many thanks
Graham

t25s ordered to be converted to Westfaliures left the vw factory with complety different roof strengtheners
you will need to make strengthening braCKETS for the hinges as these were built into the roof upon manmufacture
also the locking mech is 3 "behind the support /.strutt on standard vans
Britist pop tops are a much user friendly option
good luck

Stef thanks for the useful link. At least I'm not the only one considering the conversion. I must admit I was hoping not to make a full length opening because of the strengthening involved although it will reduce the amount of room for a bed.
Has anybody got the location details for the fixings by any chance.
