Main oil seal

Post by Smosh »

Hi all,

I have an oil leak that has made a nice mess leaving various drips over the in-laws drive

I bumped into an acquittance and pointed out I had this leak, he suggested it was the main oil seal? which seal would you say this is?

Any ideas or random guesses appreciated?!

Main oil seal?
They probobly mean the rear main oil seal, you would need to remove the gearbox, clutch, and flywheel to get to it, so make sure it's def that first

HI

The oil could be coming from a number of places, are you sure it is engine oil and not gear oil for instance, best thing would be to clean the bottom of the engine and try to find out were it is coming from :ok

yea, that's part of the mission for the weekend!
If it is the rear seal will it show between the gearbox and engine?

If it is the flywheel main oil seal then yes, so does the gearbox input shaft seal
