Hi.
I've just managed to secure a secondhand South African twin headlight grill. It looks like the fittings are slightly different, room for the normal twist turn fitting through the centre hole but the four outside fittings appear to be a bayonet type. Has anyone the same as this and if so how do you use these fittings. Is it possible to modify the body of the van to accommodate these bayonet fittings? Or do I, horror of horrors, modify the grill to fit the body?

They are just plug and play.
The bayonets simply click in place.
No modifications required.

OK, so it fits, thanks very much...............however would you believe it one of the previous owners has removed the two outer most radiator grill fitting points so it will only hold on to the centre one and the two inner places. Can someone take a photo of one of these mounting points for me please so that I can see just where and how they are fitted? I hope to find a double body cut so that I can weld them back into place or will have to fabricate some of my own.
Thanks very much.
John

Thanks very much for your offer of a photo, very much appreciated.
So, this is what I have, same on both sides, missing outer most radiator mounting points.

Why would anyone do that?

Re: Fitting South African twin headlight grill
It looks like you are missing the headlight carrier plate.
You should be able to get them from one of the guys on here or you can get them from VW Classic if your pockets are deep enough.
