1.6TD Service parts from eurocarparts

Post by JonB »

Any glaring issues getting service parts from eurocarparts? They sell Bosch fuel filters but any brand to avoid on air/oil filters and belts?

It'll be the first service I attempt myself so any practical hints let me know... Will be following the Haynes manual up to a certain point as obviously the diesel isn't covered.

Bosch filters are fine, but also consider Mann & Hengst.
Order a dedicated engine oil ...something along these lines:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... &0&cc5_245" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No issues with ECP but if you are collecting from one of their branches 'click & collect' otherwise you will pay a higher price at the store.

The 'Tappets' are supposed to be checked & shims changed : inlet 0.2 - 0.3 exhaust 0.4 - 0.5mm (warm). I point this out as originally the VW would have done this on EVERY main service but unfortunately it is likely that they have been adjusted in a very long time.

Nice one, thanks.

I thought I'd get the 'simpler' tasks done then start looking at the more complex sounding tasks (with Jim Painters number in my back pocket) :ok
