Sticking in 1st and 3rd since box out

Post by Jetfitzmaurice »

Hi, I'm new to t25s so forgive my ignorance  I dropped the 4 speed box out of my diesel powered doka to get the seals replaced and the oil changed while I was doing an engine swap. The gear change was fine before but now I've bolted it back in its locking in 1st and 3rd gears, looking at the shift lever on the box it's the ball coming too far out of the cup and then binding/jamming on the lip of the cup. Is this an adjustment issue or have I put something back together wrong?
Best Regards James

Here's a pic, left side is neutral, right side is first

The plate that holds mechanism to gearbox with two nuts and bolts - fixed it to correct side of flange? Also, in neutral, mech should be vertical before you do up nut.

Hi, the flange is on the forward face of the box (nearest the cab) as to the second part, do you mean loosen the two nuts holding the flange, make sure box and stick are in neutral, make sure the mech is vertical, then tighten?
Thanks for your help :D

you can also fit the plate upside down which also means the cup and ball are too far apart

Oh that's a possibility, it does seem as though the balls sitting quite high in the cup. I'll check in the morning :D

Well I've had a look this morning and it's not upside down, I loosened the 2 13mm bolts that hold the assembly to the gearbox and there's quite a lot of play in the mounts, I pushed the whole lot upwards while tightening the bolts and it's better but still not right. I've ordered a gear change rebuild kit from veedub machine as the change was a bit sloppy before I did the engine swap, I'll fit that and see if that helps.
