Eberspacher B2L temp switches bulk buy
I'm about to purchase the three temp switches needed for my Eber from Farnell. They have a min order of £20 so if anyone needs a set let me know. For the 3 it comes to about £9.

Yes - the majority of what our outlets stock are exactly the same item from China. I find that goods arrive from the Far East by post quicker than from UK suppliers also. ( components from Malaysia aren't as quick though) Amazing! I find that things sometimes are as cheap to buy 50 from China as to buy one from the UK with the postage. That's the way of the economy nowadays.

There is a piece in the wiki by irishdave that has a list of the correct ones - like him I don't remember which one goes where except that the highest one is at the end of the heat exchanger where the flame is the hottest. I hope you noted which ones go where! Annoyingly Eberspächer don't publish the necessary detailed info that we need for obsolete heaters (or modern ones come to that).

As I've just done this myself and this might help....(mine was a petrol ebber)

Also note* All three are ceramic type (not bakelite/heat resistant plastic)
The center (100C sensor) DOES NOT have a mounting plate (the other two do) the mounting plate is tig welded on and cannot be removed without damaging the sensor.....I guess you could cut the plate off with tin snips (although it would be a bit rough) then file it (the sensor is retained by a sprung clamp and uses a plastic spacer on top to insulate the terminals from the clamp).....something could be adapted.

To the touching face of the 100 & 50C switches... so heat is reliably transferred to the switch enabling it to function correctly....250C switch is 'suspended' (doesn't touch the casing) apart from through the mounting bracket.

You mentioned an issue with the 100C switch in the middle... is this not a straight swap? Just trying to prepare myself before I take everything apart. Also, roughly how long did it take you to remove, switch everything over and reinstall again?

The 100C 'combustion chamber' thermoswitch needs to be this type with the raised ridge on the terminal side (for the ceramic insulator and spring clip) NOTE* (you will need to cut off the loose mounting ring)

The common type have this mounting spot welded to the contact base. These mounts are not easily removed without damaging the switch, hence the reason to buy the the type shown in the pic for the combustion chamber location (the other two switches are the common type).
It takes around 45 minutes to remove the box (the first time) another hour to strip/clean & re-assemble, 30 minutes to re-fit to the van. Roughly ...

That bit is easy..3 screws/2 nuts...but it has to be done to get to the wiring harness plugs. The wiring harness then needs to be pulled through the furthest of the large air pipes to allow the heater to be removed.

It does look a little shorter however, as long as you can remove the mounting ring without damaging the switch?, I'm sure it can be made to fit.
You may need to fabricate some sort of spacer but I'm sure it will be simple enough.
