struggles to fire up.
tried several times and it did fire but went off.
found a fault with power supply and fixed it.
I can smell petrol from the exhaust so I thibk enough fuel is getting through, pump is pulsing nicely.
would it be wise to clean the glow plug or just replace it?

Kev, my D2 had a little mesh after the glow plug. They can get muck on them from the fuel so the heat sensor cuts out the heater.

Not sure if they are the same but worth a look.

I recently had mine in bits...I can't say I'm any sort of expert but I did learn a few things during the process.
The glow plug is in fact a combination of a 'spark plug' and 'glow plug'. The glow plug initially 'warming' the combustion chamber and the spark plug (and coil pack) taking over and igniting the fuel soaked combustion sleeve, to start what looks like a 'continuous' combustion (once lit it stays lit...the coil ceases to glow and I'm pretty sure the spark is also temporary ie: until the sleeve is properly lit and glowing)

Looking down the cylindrical chamber, the wall is sleeved with a wire mesh, behind which there is an absorbent material that the petrol is injected into. Mine had a large amount of carbon 'build up' on one side of the chamber which needed carefully chipping away. I also replaced all three of the internal thermo switches, free'd off the fan motor and all is working fine now.

Hope this helps.
