1.6cs diesel pump yiming settings

Hoping someone can give me the timing settings for the diesel pump on the 1.6cs, have the gauge ready and had a look but couldnt find the settings anywhere, thanks.

Thanks, was at 1.02, would this have contributed to the black smoke under load?

It could be that but black smoke is usually too much fuel - knock the fuelling back a 1/4 turn at a time.

Black smoke under load could indeed be too much fuel as OBG has said. Could also be not enough air, so look for:-

Dirty air filter.

Blocked snorkel tube in the left hand air duct. The inside mesh rusts away and the sound deadening packing fibre comes loose and blocks the airway.

Closed up air terminal on top end of the snorkel tube. The plastic gradually deforms and can close up the entry a bit. Warm it up with a hot air gun, and wedge it open with wooden wedges till it cools off.

Foreign bodies in any of the above.

Might be worth looking before fiddling with the fuelling.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
