12v 2 pin connectors ... for built in battery charger

Post by wbmkk »

I am getting my CTEK battery charger built into one of my cupboards by an auto electrician. He'll then provide leads to both batteries, each with a male connection. He will then fit female connections to the lead from the charge as well as the lead on my solar panel. It will then be a simple case of joining the two plugs to charge whatever battery.

Only problem, I am not finding it easy to source suitable connectors 92 male and 2 female)

I would have liked to use the same type as CTEK use on the charger, but it seems these are not readily available. The existing leads I have with the charger (2 croc clips) and 2 rings are on wires that are too short ... and anyway I don't want wires trailing all over the floor, which would be the case if the charger was not built in, but used 'in the normal way'

What would folk here recommend please ?

thank you

Tamiya//Kyosho connectors (much cheaper in multi packs on ebay). I've use these in numerous places in my van as 12VDC connectors. They're rated at 15A, and are easy to crimp/solder into place.

Just hard wire it and put a change over toggle switch to select which battery to charge.

+1 for the tamiya connectors. I've got numerous chargers and batteries to be charged and use these on all of them, work well. Bri

Unfortunately..it just sounds like you are over complicating things when a simple 3 way toggle (on/off/on) would do the trick and improve the function in the process...I'm with bigherb on this one.
The Solar charge controller will have one way protection so joint the two should be an issue.
