This time though, when the red switch is set to on, it's not making the usual clicking noise or lighting. Might it have failed or burnt out perhaps? All the fuses check out as ok though I don't know if it has in fact has a dedicated fuse or not

Fridge piezo ign. problem.
I can't get my fridge to light on gas. Normally, I put the three position switch to midway and flick the little red piezo ign.switch to on, and away it goes once I press the rotary gas valve thing in.
This time though, when the red switch is set to on, it's not making the usual clicking noise or lighting. Might it have failed or burnt out perhaps? All the fuses check out as ok though I don't know if it has in fact has a dedicated fuse or not
Any ideas please?

Well here's your wiring diagram.
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Fi ... Wiring.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Fed from Zig SP-4 control Panel, blue/white cable positive 12v. If your getting 12+ve at the Zig and across the unit then it must be the unit itself. They do fail and I don't think they're massively expensive. Check the supply before you lash out on a new one though.

Re: Fridge piezo ign. problem.
An old remedy that sometimes works - pull your gas knob off!, put a small piece of card in the bottom of the hole then replace and try. Sometimes the switch contact isn't made due to wear.

Re: Fridge piezo ign. problem.
Looks like it's ok now
I pulled the fridge out and found one connection from the ign switch to the igniter unit was loose. But as I pulled it off to tighten it I clumsily yanked thye other two wires off as the have been loose too (that's my excuse anyway
)
After some faffing around with a 12v test screwdriver lamp the only way I could get it to 'tick' was by holding my tester onto a terminal. And I note that the negative supply is also live, making the gas valve carry 12 v too as it connects to its metal holding bracket.
Anyway, the schematic doesn't show how the vernitron unit is wired some I can only get it to work by putting an earth lead from the ground on the vernitron unit and all works but the switch itself doesn't light as it ticks but I can live with that. Also, its turning itself off once the pilot gets hot so I'm assuming all is well now. I still dont understand why an extra earth has fixed it as I removwd and cleaned all the earths on the back of the fridge but hey ho, it works now.
Thanks for your help
