Noisy Clutch Pedal

Post by T25Convert »

Hi all,

Latest issue to plague me - a whinging kind of vibration noise from the clutch pedal on the over-run (particularly downhill)....

It was not fully disengaging, initially I thought the new cross shaft in the clutch was to blame as the splines not quite the same as the old one. However, further investigations showed that the slave support bracket that bolts to the front of the gearbox also had a severely elongated hole in the end. Sorted that and it works really well - nice light pedal, nice and smooth.

Now though when on the over-run the clutch pedal makes a horrible whining noise - you can feel it vibrating as well. Sounds most like the noise of a power sander being applied to wood - goes away when the clutch is pressed, or light throttle is applied.

Note sure what is making the pedal vibrate - the van as a whole doesn't, and there is a gap between pin and master cylinder so that should stop any vibration from the hydraulics (although not sure why you'de get that anyway!)

Thoughts people - turn the stereo up?

Cheers,

Alex
