Diesel pumps for 1987 T25 1.6 turbo

Post by llarry »

Hi , i just took my T25 1987 1.6 turbo diesel camper to be mot d and it failed because of a diesel leak , they have replaced an injector and the pipe but im now being told its the pump and it needs a new spindle and seals !! they tell me to repair it it has to be sent off and will cost £345 or they say the better option is to get it refurbed at a cost of £645 , now this piece of news was very painful to hear and i was wondering if any of you wonderful people had any ideas or suggestions as spending a total of £1000 on a fuel leak fills me with dispair ha ha .
Thank you all very much
Larry

Those costs seem in the ball park for the options given but can't see why a used pump wouldn't work and be much less expensive?
