The saga of the Diesel 1.6 engine continues, what started as a head gasket moved on to leak off pipes leaking and now has developed a new issue...
The engine is exhausting past the injector on cylinder 1. This means that a plume of exhaust can be seen coming from the base of the injector.
It looks like this was spotted by the garage and they have tried to seal with some epoxy and this has cracked and now the exhaust can escape...
Any thoughts on a possible cause? Is it likely the head is damaged? Or is there a seal that needs to be replaced?
Any help much appreciated....
On to the next issue

Did the garage remove the injectors when they did the head gasket. If there is exhaust gases coming from the injector I would say that you need a new flame trap, available from brickwerks.

Re: On to the next issue
No worries, to get the injectors out I use a deep 27mm socket.

Re: On to the next issue
Just finished it, yes I could see the old one hadn't been changed. Managed it with a 27mm ring spanner.... It seems to do quite a few jobs on the VW Transporter!
I think that has to be the best value fix ever... 78p
Again thanks for your help..
I have 6 more just in case if you ever need one in a hurry...
