Fuel problems

Post by kennydawbheag »

Hi everyone just finished a engine rebuild on my westy which has a jr engine code hydraulic tappet.the problem I have now is that it's blasting out white smoke stinks of diesel and running really rough thought it would clear after the lifters filled with oil but it's still really smoky and missing under revs I think it might be pump or injectors has anyone come across this problem?

JR engine ?
or JX..
you don't have hydraulic lifters chap, you have shim-adjustable bucket tappets
AGG 2.0L 8V. (Golf GTi MkIII)

Hi kev engine is jr code which was fitted to golfs, passats the head has a extra oil feed for the tappets I only found out when I ordered a new head thinking I had a jx and noticed the head was missing an extra hole. So I think the engine was changed at some point. Tes engine shop supplied the new head complete with hyd, lifters.
