Poptop seal fitting.

Hi folks - can anyone advise on the best way to fit a new poptop seal?

When I did it on my Westy, I just pushed the seal loosely on by hand, starting at the front right corner and continuing round the back to the front left. This allowed me to check that it was lined up and the rear corners were square.
Then I used a wooden mallet to press it on securely, starting at the centre rear and being careful around the back corners. Finally I used a bit of clear silicon sealant at the corners between the top of the seal and the roof, where it didn't fit snugly.

I have no idea if this is the approved, or best, way - but it's been fine for the past eight years.

Thanks JP. I was wondering whether or not to use silicon/ sikaflex or not, and whether it was necessary.

The original seal had no sealant or adhesive and lasted 15 years before it began to come loose at the sides. This was due to the metal springy stuff inside the seal going rusty and loosing its spring. I stuck it on with impact adhesive, which lasted another 5 years.
The sealant I used at the rear corners on the new seal is to stop water collecting in the gap between the roof and the top outer edge of the seal. I'll report back on the situation after another 7 years
