Hi guys,
Just hoping you can answer a few questions relating to my 1.7 d:
Today I filled up at the fuel station, filled it right to the top and noticed fuel leaking out from one of the breather tank pipes, the small braided pipe leading from the bottom of the o/s breather tank is pretty knackered so will replace it. I'm just a bit confused how fuel has gotten this high up when filling the tank as I thought these breather tanks are for balancing and breathing?
Also I replaced the fuel filter today and drained the old one into a bottle, found the following in the image below - does this seem okay, it looks like dirty water, it did have a new fuel tank in October and only just had the chance to change the filter so guess where the old tank had rusted it caused this problem?

Can anyone tell me how the fuel filter is actually supposed to be held in? Don't think the jubilee clamp is genuine ?

Re: Diesel fuel questions
Both those pics are the same. Should the second one refer to the filter at the back of the tank?
Is it possible that there is an ingress of muck from the filler neck assembly?

Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Re: Diesel fuel questions
I've edited it so hopefully works now
I read that the fuel filter should be drained of water, so I guess the best course is action is to undo the nut on the top and the plastic nut on the bottom and see what comes out after another month or driving.
I'm going to change the dodgy breather connections and try and look at the filler neck in the process
