Own up - who's had a pop-top fitted?
There are regular questions on this site regarding the ease (or not) of fitting a pop-top, but there are precious few threads from folk who have actually had it done. So here we go - I'm thinking of fitting a pop-top roof to my Caravelle, so what I'd like to know is this: If you have had one fitted....
1. When it was done?
2. What did it cost?
3. Who did the work for you (or if you fitted it, who supplied the roof)?
4. Are you happy with the job?
5. Was it worth doing?
6. In hindsight, would you do anything differently?

I would be very interested in this, its something I am considering myself but not sure whether it would have more value in buying a westie poptop rather than cutting a caravelle

Same here, good thread idea this.
Some money to be made here for someone who can do it at a decent price.

Re: Own up - who's had a pop-top fitted?
If you can get a complete lift up devon roof its straight forward DIY .Done it my self take care with measurements before cutting the roof do not cut the roof braces.Cost me £250 for a roof .Its worth investigating after market pop tops for T25s but as i said do not cut the the roof braces as this can cause weakning and safety issues.Unless a reinforced frame is fitted .

Spektrum Interiors based in Bromsgrove got back to me on the price for their new low profile elevating T25 roof, wich they are developing with Austops.
£2525 inc roof bed or carpet lining plus any lights.
Extra work is required when going from a hightop so the price may be more.
Best to ring them though to confirm.

Re: Own up - who's had a pop-top fitted?
Thought about fitting a poptop for about a second or maybe two seconds. Then thought what's the point cutting a nice 100% solid metal roof off and replacing it with fabric and fibreglass. I couldn't see the need as van only for two people.

Ouch £2525
My past life as a workshop technician for a local college i recall laying up gel coat and glass fibre & resin on a
polished glass fibre mould for a project. An idea occurs to me a second hand Devon side awning roof to
make a mould to reproduce an exact copy. Copy write law using the devon roof might be an issue .costing for
gel coat resin and glass matt to see if its worth it for small orders.
