Upgrading radiator fans
Hi, has anyone fitted upgraded radiator fans and motors to their van?
They're very noisy and probably not that efficient, so I wondered had anyone fitted more fans, or brushless fans etc?

Thanks mate. I guess the concensus is keep the original fans. I wonder about upgrading the motors to brushess though. They came on during the Syncro weekend and I nearly sh@t myself...

This made me laugh!! In light of all my rattles, bangs, squeaks and thunks of mendipidy 14, the radiator fan is a very reasurring sound that the cooling system is working....

You've heard the saying " when the "pooh" hits the fan " that could have been messy for you all

Re: Upgrading radiator fans
If you check my 'Rad fan replaced' discussion from a few weeks ago you will see one option. I see it as an upgrade. Purists disagree. It was a fiddly job, not recommended without a workshop.

It was the first time I'd heard them. Thought the old steam engine was giving up the ghost!

TBF, the disagreement wasn't on the grounds of "purity" or "originality". And, yes, a working fan is an upgrade to a knackered one...Ralf85 wrote:I see it as an upgrade. Purists disagree.

Re: Upgrading radiator fans
I fitted a Kenlowe on my Marlin kitcar when I built it in 1981, it still runs as well now as it did then. That was to replace a mechanical fan though, I'm perfectly happy to stick with the VW one on the T25.
